S/V PRIVATEER sailed under the Golden Gate on September 17, 2013 under heavy gale conditions, 40-50 knots! We have successfully completed our first World Voyage leg! Craig Alaska to San Francisco, 1,200 Nautical Miles on the great circle route. The passage took only 9 days and 9 hours!
Here are a few pics from our first voyage leg!
Si comes prepared with his Cowichan sweater
Loving the new arch, bench, and monitor self-steering
Si is in his element
Privateer doing what she does best
Si is on hands-free watch
This is why we sail...
Eat our wake California!
Kelsey loves the CA sun--we're not in AK anymore...
Rounding Cape Mendocino 35 miles out to sea
Winds and seas freshen up as we make our final approach
Heaping seas off Pt. Reyes. 40-50 knots!
Hauling ass toward the Golden Gate
Smooth seas as we pass under the bridge!
First mate, heavily salted
Sea worn, relieved, and exilirated!
